FAQ

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.

If yours isn't here, send it over — we'll respond within one business day.

How early should I start the process?

+

For rabies-controlled destinations like Japan, Australia, or the UK, at least 7 months before travel. For the EU and most other countries, 30–90 days is usually enough. When in doubt, sooner is always better than later.

Do you replace my regular veterinarian?

+

No. Pet Travel is not a veterinary practice and does not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment. Our founder is a former animal-hospital operations manager with 10+ years of experience — we coordinate the timelines, paperwork, and USDA endorsement submission with your existing vet, who handles all clinical care.

Can you handle rabies titer (FAVN / RNATT) testing?

+

Yes. We coordinate the blood draw with your local clinic, manage the approved lab submission (Kansas State University or equivalent), and track results against your travel window.

What is a USDA-endorsed health certificate?

+

It's an official document, signed first by a USDA-accredited veterinarian and then endorsed by USDA APHIS, confirming that your pet meets the destination country's import requirements. Most international destinations require it.

Do you handle domestic (interstate) travel too?

+

Yes. Interstate health certificates and airline-specific paperwork for cross-country moves and airline travel within the US.

How much does the concierge service cost?

+

Pricing depends on destination complexity, the number of pets, and whether you're a pet parent or a hospital partner. We provide a flat quote after the initial consultation — no hourly billing surprises.

Do you book airline reservations and crates?

+

We advise on IATA-compliant crates and airline choice, and coordinate the airline paperwork side. Booking flights and buying crates stays with you.

What if my travel plans change?

+

We rebuild the timeline. As long as vaccinations and titers stay valid, most schedule changes just mean re-issuing the endorsement closer to the new travel date.
